Polynesian handicrafts are known for their extreme sophistication. Polynesian craftsman (or "mama") creates hats, baskets and mats with pandanus and coconut tree leaves. Intercontinental Resorts lets you discover the cultural treasures of French Polynesia...We organize various demonstrations focused on the local handicraft such as pareo dyeing demonstration, tifaifai quilt making demonstration, flower and shell lei making demonstration and basket weaving demonstration.

Pareo or Pareu is very important in daily Polynesian life, as much for men as for women who can tie this kind of sarong in a thousand and one ways. Monoï oil has an important role in the Polynesian life, during traditional rituals, for its medical properties or for body and hair beauty treatment. In order to avoid mosquitoes the Intercontinental Resorts advise you to cover yourself with monoï oil.
