The transfer

The airport in Manihi has just been remade (May 2007). It has been extended by several hundred yards following its destruction in 1993, following an attack on a large swell frm the Pacific Ocean. When the aircraft lands at the Manihi airport, the adventure begins. Your luggage recovered, you will be directed to the dock at the marina adjacent to the terminal, where the speed boat is waiting to regain the motu. The transfer, which will take about 30 minutes, depending on the condition will allow you to forget the twenty-first century and enjoy Nanihi Paradise, a new World%u2026

The Motu

The motu covering an area of 1.3 ha is private. It has three farés (bungalows) for you. The motu, and the terrace of your faré are oriented to the west so you can appreciate the cocktail at the sunset. The beach in front of the motu is ideal for snorkeling into turquoise waters shallow. Further, a coral reef with an area of 3.8 hectares is available for snorkelling, fishing and other shellfish and clams.

The bungalows

Each bungalow features two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and a terrace. Each room can accommodate two adults (double bed) or three children (1 bunk bed and a single bed). The rooms have two windows for ventilation (1.5 m wide and 1m high), and each bed is equipped with a mosquito net for a comfortable night and a door opening onto the terrace. The terrace is 20m ² and is front of the beach, lagoon and sunset. In the Tuamotu, people live mainly outside, this is why the terrace are so spacious. Between the two rooms, there is a kitchen with a refrigerator, a gas stove, and all the necessary equipment for those who have chosen the option Guest hosts or Motel. At rear house, there is the bathroom. It can be reached by the kitchen or from the garden, which is more handy when we returned from the sea to gain access in the bathroom without going through the Fare.

The grocery

A grocery is available on the motu, even for those who have chosen the option Guest hosts or Motel. You can find non-perishable products, frozen and fresh occasionally. You can also visit the small supermarket in the village according to your wishes.

Drinks

Water is the most important element in the Tuamotu. Rainwater is collected on the roofs of Fares, and kept in tanks. This water must be saved in the showers, toilet or kitchen. It is drunk by residents but can be difficult to digest for visitors not used to it. A parallel circuit supplies the toilet and the sink for washing with water from a well drilling non-potable but perfectly suited to dishes, laundry or flush. The motel has a little stock and can give you at any time a bottled mineral water. In addition to soft drinks, beer, wine, snacks, digestive and cocktails will be served.

Package

As you will discover on the Rates page, we recommend a minimum stay of 3 or 4 nights in order to really discover the life on an atoll in the Tuamotus.  We propose the following activities: visiting a pearl farm, touring the atoll, visiting the village, fishing in all its forms (including night fishing with a net), going on a day outing including a fishing party and a picnic on an even more isolated motu, in addition to snorkeling, discovering the reef, and hunting for shells.

The village

In the village of Turipaoa you will find a post office, a bakery, city hall, and a grocery store.  You can also find a clinic in the village.  The clinic is open for appointments in the morning and 24 hours a day for emergencies.  The care at the clinic is free.
With a simple request, you can go to the village by renting the motu's speed boat with a captain.  The hourly rate for renting the boat is found on the "Rates" page.  When navigation of the lagoon is possible (during the day), we can also take you to the village to attend the various available religious services.  Proper attire is recommended out of respect for the local population.

The "Manihi Pearl Beach" hotel is also a place that you can choose for its bar, its restaurant, or its diving center.  In order to have lunch at the hotel, you must have a reservation, and you wil find the roundtrip transfer rates on the "Rates" page.

Pearl Farms

Manihi is the atoll where, in 1965, the first pearl farm in French Polynesia was founded.  Since then, the number of farms has grown to around 95.  The economic crisis in the industry decreased their number, but you will have the opportunity during your stay to visit one or more farms.  At the farm, you will discover the not only the grafting technique, but also the process of harvesting and removing the pearls.  it is possible to purchase some pearls that were just harvested from the farm you visited, and, for this reason, it is necessary to bring some cash.  When planning your stay, please take into account that pearls farms are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Picnic / Fishing

Your fare is located on a private motu, but you will have the opportunity to discover "the wilderness" of the Manihi atoll by spending the entire day there during which we will organize a fishing party followed by a picnic on an even more isolated motu where you will enjoy your fish cooked over a wood fire, traditional raw fish, and other foods gathered from the lagoon by your hosts.
Fishing is also one of the proposed activities.  Whether it's with a hand line, a net, or a speargun, fishing is offered in all its forms depending on the state of the lagoon, the wind, and the weather.

Lagoon Tour

The atoll is roughly 43 miles in circumference, and you can discover both inhabited and uninhabited motus, different pearl farms, and the local population by taking a boat tour.

Scuba Diving

The dive center is located in the heart of the Manihi Pearl Beach Resort approximately 6 miles from the motu.  The transfers between the motu and the dive center require payment, and you can find the prices on the "Rates" page.

The first transfer at our arrival in Papeete (Airport/Sofitel/Airport) was really nice with a really great woman. I never saw a travel assistant coming with us after check-in in order to see if everything is right. In general all the transfer was per ...
