Tuesday 29 September 9h15 the French authorities in Tahiti French Polynesia has issued a tsunami alert to the population.

The Papeete wharf was evacuated as the attended waves would be 40 to 100 centimeters high.

Emergency sirens were ringing in town and everybody was evacuated with one hour as the wave would hit Tahiti at 10h50. Fortunately the tsunami was very low. Everything gets back to normal at around 13h00.
